What Is PIEE?

PIEE stands for Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment. It's the Department of War's main online system for handling contracts, payments, vendor registration, and more. Think of it as the DoW's big procure-to-pay hub.

In regard to CMMC, PIEE is the gateway you must use to submit your self-assessments. There's no separate "CMMC portal." Here's the connection:

Why PIEE Matters for CMMC Right Now

In Phase 1 (November 2025 through November 9, 2026), most small suppliers need to complete CMMC Level 1 (for FCI) or Level 2 (for CUI) self-assessments. You report the results (scores, compliance status, and annual executive affirmation) in the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS). SPRS is a module inside PIEE. You log into PIEE first, then navigate to SPRS Cyber Reports to enter/edit your CMMC data.

Without PIEE access, you can't submit anything. Miss this, and your self-attestation lapses, potentially blocking new DoD subcontracts.

Quick Access Breakdown

  1. Register in SAM.gov first (if not already): Get your Unique Entity ID (UEI) and CAGE code. Establish an Electronic Business (EB) POC.

  2. Go to PIEE: https://piee.eb.mil/. Register or log in (CAC/PIV for DoD users, or username/password for vendors).

  3. Set up your vendor group/role: Your company's Contract Administrator (CAM) or EB POC approves the "SPRS Cyber Vendor User" role. This unlocks SPRS access for CMMC submissions.

  4. In SPRS: Add/edit your Level 1 or Level 2 self-assessment, affirm compliance annually (senior leader signs off), and submit. Affirmations must stay current.

Common Pitfalls for Small Shops

Many assume SPRS is standalone. It's not; PIEE is required for single sign-on. If your company has never done DoW work (no WAWF invoicing, etc.), setup takes time. Contact PIEE help desk early if stuck.

In Phase 2 (starting Nov 10, 2026), third-party C3PAO certs kick in for many Level 2 contracts, but affirmations still route through SPRS/PIEE.

Bottom line: PIEE isn't "for CMMC" exclusively; it's the DoW contracting backbone, and CMMC self-reporting lives there via SPRS.
